January in 30A

We recently returned home from our second time snowbirding in 30a! We stayed for one month (spending one of the those weeks at the cabin in GA). We cherished each day down South as a family. Brooks absolutely LOVED playing in the sand. Each time we went to the beach, he would squirm in my arms the minute we crossed the walkover and could see the sand, eager to get down and play! He could play on the beach for hours. I'm pretty sure he crawled several miles during this trip!

We were so excited to host some friends of ours at the very beginning of our trip over NYE! They stopped by for a visit on their way to South FL. It was their first time on 30a and showing them around was a treat! It was the perfect way to ring in the new year!

We stayed in this beautiful beach house. We would definitely recommend this home, just a short walk to the emerald coast. We decorated this home two years ago! Read more about that adventure here and shop the beach home here.

We found a great routine by the beach. Brooks typically woke us up around 5/6am. We made avocado toast (always on local Black Bear's sourdough!) for breakfast, complete with a cup of cold brew. Brooks and I took a morning walk after breakfast while Ty worked. Following, one or both us took Brooks on a nap drive (he will only nap in the car these days) along 30a (often stopping from an almond croissant at Fonville...the croissant-a-day habit is one that we're trying not to bring home to Mi!). After lunch (usually leftovers...we did a lot of cooking on this trip!), it was time for some afternoon work, beach time, or park time. Ty and I full time co-parented all month, taking turns with Brooks and work. After dinner, Brooks went to bed. I generally snuck in some more work then join Ty for reading or TV....we had been watching Parks N Rec and an old season of the Bachelor while in FL, but also dove deeply into reading to relax before bed.

There are so many wonderful restaurants in the area. This trip, we visited Black Bear for fresh bread, Fonville for coffee, Raw & Juicy for smoothies and toast, Goatfeathers for seafood takeout, Amici for margarita pizza, and Modica Market for chicken salad. This was the least we have ever eaten out on a FL trip...we are on a huge cooking-from-scratch kick and are loving controlling the quality of food in our home! I tried several new recipes on this trip and spent a lot of time reading cook books! Weekly trips to Whole Foods in Destin became a habit!

Ah, truly our favorite place in the world. A home away from away. Until next time, emerald coast!
