If you have been following along on insta stories, you know that a lot happened at the reno last week! We got cabinets installed, light fixtures up, and began flooring installation in both bathrooms! Believe it or not, I wanted until this week to finalize the master bathroom design! I was paralyzed with indecision when it came to the tub surround tile. Every day, I would stop by the house just to STARE at the bathroom trying to determine which tile to use. Finally, a friend sat down with me and lent an ear. She graciously listen to the entire, over dramatic process. I explained ALL the options, and how I began wanting one thing, and then talked myself into something entirely different. She gave me some tough love and told me chose, providing thoughtful input along the way. Here is a brief explanation :
UNDERRATED. The 50,000 person town of Bozeman, Montana was truly a distinct highlight on our trip. Clean, progressive, modern, Bozeman has a plethora of new living opportunities nestled near their quaint, but not too small, downtown, with MANY coffee shops and restaurants. Cool stores too. The abundance of nature within a 1 hour drive was surreal. So much so, that I would consider moving to Montana...truly. We fell in love with BZMT.
Hey y'all! We posted a brief snapshot of our "Renovation spreadsheet" on instagram stories a few weeks ago, and we got more responses than ever! Many of you asked for a copy. Some of you simply wanted to follow along, while others of you wanted a copy to help you stay organized during your ongoing or upcoming renovation! So, here is a glimpse into our “system;" what we used to stay organized! Of course, all renovations are very different, so this list of tasks will not exclusively pertain to your project, but hopefully you will be able to use the format below to help you create your own task list. (Side note - LOVE hearing how many of our readers are renovating themselves!)
Last fall, Hannah and I were burnt out coming off of moving, renovating, and starting our own business. We needed a short trip away, and wanted it to be affordable. After scouring the internet, searching for new spots we hadn’t been, I found a spot where we could hike, eat, and be away in nature… and better yet, get there from Grand Rapids in under 5 hours.
ENTER: Baraboo, Wisconsin and Devil's Lake State Park.
We love our old mid century charmer (and by "old," we mean 1964, which really isn't that old in house years). We appreciate the original elements, and are trying to stay true to its personality. However, there are pros and cons to old homes. Things can be out of date; there are occasional "surprises;" and unpredictable expenses.
When I posted some sneak peaks of our lighting selections yesterday on Instagram, y'all were asking for links. So, here we are! This is everything we have ordered for the new house (so far, still have a hefty shopping list to tackle)! I have expensive taste (don't we all?). With specific things in mind, I scoured the Internet to find matte black and brass finishes at reasonable prices. Click on each image for link. Enjoy!
The condo has officially sold! We're one giant step closer to our new home. The move is becoming more "real" each day! We can barely contain our excitement, but are also navigating all of the emotions that come with "moving." It's sad to say goodbye; but overall, we find so much peace, gratitude, and love through the sale of our condo. We are so excited for the condo's new homeowners, and love that it is going to become a special place for someone new who will love and appreciate it as much as we did.
Now, onto the new place! The kitchen needs some MAJOR love. I'm unsure why anyone ever thought that a U shaped kitchen was practical. Two peninsulas make for a crowded room. Here's the plan for the South side of the kitchen :
