MINNEAPOLIS, MN // TRAVEL GUIDE

MPLS is a city much larger, and more exciting than I had perceived it would be. We traveled to western Minnesota for a wedding and decided to schedule an extra day to explore the twin cities. In the twin cities, we found a few consistent things: good eats, better coffee, and friendly Minnesotans!

COFFEE :

Spyhouse Coffee

Last May, during our quick trip to Minneapolis, we found one of our favorite discoveries of all time: OAT MILK!
While visiting Spyhouse Coffee, we were first treated to the delicious, creamy, delightful creation that is oak milk. Since that fateful day last May, we've never looked back. We order it and buy it on the reg. So here's to you barista at Spyhouse! You opened our world and our pocketbooks to oat milk obsession.

GOOD EATS :

Young Joni

Young Joni is a trendy restaurant located in the heart of Minneapolis Arts District. Their slogan is: a restaurant made for slowing down, feeling special, and savoring a deliciously inspired meal with family and friends....and I could not agree more. The environment, while earthy and trendy, was also spacious, familial, and inviting. The food was fantastic as well. I ordered the Margherita pizza (which I'd recommend) and Hannah ordered Bibim grain.

The Freehouse

We arrived around 10 am and headed straight to a restaurant in the popular North Loop neighborhood called The Freehouse. I was rewarded with amazing chicken and waffles. The Freehouse was an unbelievably delicious experience, in a walkable, trendy part of the city.

Agra Culture

If you have been by the blog before, you know we love a good casual, quick eats option. Honestly, sometimes when "on the go" it makes sense to have an inexpensive, tasty, efficient place to grab a meal. For this trip, that was Agra Culture. Agra Culture is a healthy restaurant, that has a few locations around MPLS. It was tasty and affordable... win win!

THINGS TO SEE :

Minneapolis Sculpture Park

A large part of MPLS is dedicated to the arts scene. The park is an 11 acre vestige of beauty that is located not far from downtown, and has plentiful parking around it. The Walker Art Center is located on the facility as well, and can be entered for admission. The outdoor sculpture park is free and totally worth the stroll with a cup of coffee in hand!

Minneapolis Stone Arch Bridge

A prominent recreation area for locals, the Stone Arch Bridge offers both cool views of the city, and a wonderful place to walk. Not to mention, it overlooks the Mississippi River and Saint Anthony Falls. The bridge was created in 1883, but just began servicing pedestrians, runners, and bikers in 1994. It was such a fun way to see the city.

Walk Bde Maka Ska Lake (no, that's not a typo!)

Big surprise here...there was a large lake in downtown Minneapolis! We decided to go for an afternoon stroll in the perfect 75 and sunny weather at lake Bde Make Ska ( "Lake White Earth"). It is the largest lake in the twin cities, and is surrounded by biking and walking trails.

Thanks for stopping by and traveling with us! Next Tuesday... another underrated Midwestern getaway worth a weekend: Columbus, Ohio.
