Posting on a Tuesday? Yep, you betcha (wow, that sounded so Midwestern...I need to get back to the South. SOS). We've been getting a lot of cold rain in Michigan as of late. I'm disappointed (severe understatement) with this Spring weather, but I'm happy with the extra blog time. Hence, why we are here together on this lovely, non-Sunday I found this adorable bedroom on Instagram a few weeks ago and had to share it. Allison, talented creator of this magical space, is a family friend who I've enjoyed following on IG. Allison is a West Coast photographer and mama to four (She's one of those posh moms, whose kids always seem to dress cooler than me). Be sure to find her on Instagram for some photography inspiration. And if you're looking for a photographer in Bellingham, she's your girl. You can find her website here. I don't have kids (obviously). Sometimes, I get tempted. Sometimes, I want kids of my own so that I can name them, dress them, and most importantly - decorate their bedrooms. However, I'm pretty sure that's not valid basis to transition into motherhood. Ty and I are on the 5-10 year plan (traveling, working, saving $, other newlywed, I-don't-want-kids-yet stereotypes). Sorry, mom. Also, I've got eight siblings. I am enjoying the wonderful state of Auntiehood. I have three beautiful nieces and one energetic stud of a nephew. These four little blessings inhabit a large portion of my heart. I love them. Anyway, although children are not a part of our immediate future (pending no surprises), I was still wildly inspired by this wall mural. How brilliant. Did I mention she has twins? SHEESH. So cute. Allison used three shades of gray, one white, and painters' tape to create this unique backdrop. The shelving unit, chair, and simplistic cribs (which I love...so modern and Scandinavian) are all from IKEA. This is a great testament to a design principle I always endorse - minimal, neutral pieces + unique statement piece = one timeless, beautiful space. (Remind me to plan a trip to IKEA to replace all of my dead plants with live ones. All hail IKEA) This painters' tape method has invited a new realm of possibility to my brain. We've got an exposed staircase in our entryway, and I'm thinking that some kind of black and white plaid could be interesting. Ty hasn't been introduced to this idea yet....here's to hoping he doesn't read this post. He thinks we are done decorating the house. What I haven't told him, is that I will never be done. Life is a constant state of redecorating. That's my motto. Evil laugh.
Thank you to Allison for being a lovely guest on HT. We applaud your creativity. Thank you for inspiring us. Also, your twin boys are SO STINKIN' DARLING. Here at HT, were always looking to spread creative ambition. Got a room we could feature? Drop us an email or DM our Instagram. We would love to share your brilliance with the world. Much love, HJ

That bedroom is gorgeous! I love the minimalism, and it's not too gender-conforming, which-all well and good to those who are all boy=blue girl=pink-I actually find more stylish. I feel like this could be a girl's bedroom, too. And it's not too young, so even as the boys get older, they won't have to redesign because they outgrew rattles and bottles on the wall. Love your personal story included, I am totally of a similar mindset, in my mid-20s and not wanting to start a family yet. You are very talented!
