PLANS FOR #CHANDLER'S EXTERIOR

We have 3 DAYS to decide the exterior color! HELP! AHHH. Today, I am sharing my visions, and some inspiration, for this exterior. Opinions are certainly welcome, as I am quite undecided (and Ty and I are in full disagreement!)
Picture
The exterior of this home is a mix of cedar (YESSSS) and brick (also YES). We lucked out. Cedar is a premium compared to vinyl, and it's not often that you find a home from this era  with cedar!
TO DO :
  • Paint cedar and brick
  • Paint windows
  • New garage entry door
  • Paint front foor
  • Paint garage door
  • Clean up yard (YIKES! This yard needs a LOT of work)
  • Remove a few trees (to keep the interior full of natural light, and to allow us to grow some pretty grass)
Picture
This tri-level was built in 1964, and the interior is filled with mid century touches. The exterior does not proclaim such an era. To me, the exterior says "80s suburbia."  I hate it. Now, I would describe my vision for this house as "California minimal." I love the scandinavian elements of our current home, and plans to follow a similar theme, but want to add more warmth, color, and unpredictability to suite this property's cozy, "homey" vibes. I plan to preserve the mid century elements, create a calm environment by keeping things minimal, and add touches of warmth with some eclectic, Californian details.

Enter : BLACK

I've been in love with black lately. I have been drooling over black and charcoal exteriors since we built our first house. I have yet to sell Ty on an all black exterior (feel free to comment below and help me make my case!). I love the sophistication of a black MCM home in the woods.

Current contenders :
  • Paint home entirely Black, with black window casings
  • Paint home entirely Black, with white window casings
  • Paint home entirely Charcoal, with white window casings
  • Paint cedar siding black, paint brick white, all with black window casings
Here is some inspiration :

Love this black with the white windows.

OK - if you followed the exterior paint saga on instagram stories, you heard me reference a few article about black paint. This post makes me want to go for it, but then I saw this post and now I am nervous.

Let us know what you think - I have less than a week to decide! YIKES! Stay tuned as we nail down the first of 273,419,258 decisions.
