I don't love hunting for light fixtures. I have no trouble selecting plumbing, flooring, paint, etc....but finding lighting can be so frustrating. Generally, the biggest issue is finding fixtures that give off a soft light, versus harsh. Many of the fixtures that are "trending" incorporate exposed bulbs, which Ty and I both find hard on the eyes. We were very specific about what we wanted - here were our parameters while shopping for lighting :
ENTRYThis fixture is my favorite. I wanted something interesting, but was limited due to the height of the room. Most fixtures hung too low. This fixture is fun and unique, without being too loud. DININGI had my heart set on a simplistic piece for the dining room. I actually bought several other fixtures, only to return them. This one spoke to me right away. I fell for the brass interior, and loved its simplicity. HALLWAYS & GUEST BATHWe have three of these semi-flush fixtures in our home (laundry, guest bath, hallway). This MCM globe invites personality and texture, compared to a typical flush mount or can. The best part? This fixture is $53! MASTER BATHBelieve it or not, these pendants were original to the home! (We live in a 1964 Mid Century tri-level). I spray painted the cord brass. Here, or here, is a similar fixture. SUNROOM / MASTER BEDROOM FANI am a fan of this fixture (see what I did there?). It can be difficult to find a not-ugly fan at a good pricepoint. This white fan is a great price for the visual! Click on the below images for links to each fixture. (Also note our exterior sconce - exterior photos coming soon!) Thanks for following along! And may this post light the way in your search for new fixtures for your home! (see what I did there!)
