Moving 5 times in 4 years, we've spent nearly half our marriage living in the midst of a renovation or couch surfing at the homes of family or friends. Prior to moving to the Lakehouse, we slept on a mattress on the floor of the unfinished tiny condo. The bedroom windows were covered with t-shirts by way of painter's tape, which believe it or not, didn't block much of the light coming from the street lamp just outside the window. Needless to say, we didn't sleep well for months on end. After years of not-so-ideal sleeping situations, we decided that we were going to make the lakehouse bedroom the most comfortable, sleep-inducing oasis of all time! It's time to introduce you to the best linen bedding of all time! Five bedrooms later, and we have finally found some really beautiful and comfortable bedding. These linen sheets get softer with each wash. We love them so much that we just bought another set for the guest bedroom! This linen bedspread compliments the lush sheets. Ty and I used to fight about duvet versus bedspread. I always loved the look of a duvet, but Ty complained about the comforter scrunching up and becoming a big lump inside the bottom of the duvet, often ending up by our feet. This was a heated debate at the Jansma household. After years of a duvet, I had to agree (as much as I hated to admit it)....the duvet drove me nuts. This linen bedspread is the best of both worlds. The linen texture and beautiful stitching makes the bedding look high end, while it doesn't provide the headache of dealing with a duvet and insert. I was also able to fit the bedding in our washing machine, and it washed up great! Like the sheets, softer after each wash! This chunky blanket follows me from room to room; I can't seem to put it down! I love the way is looks draped over the bed or sofa...cozy! The cactus silk lumbar pillow is a simple addition that brings some personality to the room. I found this one at Homegoods, but have shared links to a few similar options (see above!). I like to stick with one lumbar instead of an array of pillows. While I love the look of layers of pillows, I don't love having to take them on and off the bed twice each day! We are all about low maintenance over here! To further enhance the ultimate sleeping experience, we went with both blackout blinds and blackout curtains. Our bedroom is DARK! Honestly, probably overkill! You could wake up at 10:00am and the room would still feel like it is the middle of the night! These cordless blackout blinds are minimal, easy to use, and very effective. These darkening curtains are made of gorgeous, thick linen. The pleats make them feel high end (for half the price, from amazon!). Sleep tight! Han Jan

I love this post, the “transitional home” situation sounds so much like my husband and I right now as we wait out the sale of our city condo in order to buy our dream home. I was pulled in here by your front door makeover - but loving all posts! Looking forward to following you for design inspiration!
