It's time to talk New Year's Resolutions! I love talking about goals, dreams, and the future. Enneagram 3 here! New Years provides the opportunity to thoroughly discuss said topics with friends and family, without sounding like a crazy person. Thus, it's my favorite time of year! I eagerly ask each friend and family member about their resolutions and goal planning for the coming year. I love to find out what others are striving toward. Here are our resolutions this year! 1. Get rid of 50% of our wardrobesAs most of you know, we began the process of "owning less" about two years ago, and accomplished it. Ty and I have been both tinkering with selling and donating items as we see fit, but we decided to do another complete overall. The more you find your "home runs," the more you realize you don't need the other things that don't feel the same way. So, we are getting rid of over 50% of our clothes again! (Poshmark store opening soon!) 2. Avoid all retail clothing stores for the next 6 months! We will not step foot in a chain retail clothing store for the next six months...this includes Nordstrom Rack, TJ Maxx, outlet malls, malls in general, JCrew, Ralph Lauren, all of them! (exceptions : local boutiques and places like Target). Generally, we either find ourselves spending money on random things we didn't plan to buy, or simply, wasting precious time we could be playing scrabble, blogging, reading a good book, or socializing with a friend. 3. Purchase our first Airbnb! We are thrilled to have been able to become debt free in 2019! We paid off our cars, student debt, and house debt; enabling us to find a new sense of freedom! In 2020, we would like to purchase our first Airbnb! 4. Finish Our Book!Ty and I are writing a book about intentional living. We've often discussed on here, and our instagram pages, the unconventional life that we strive to live, daily. We decided to begin putting it on paper several months ago! This book will outline our journey to financial freedom, sharing what motivated us to make extreme changes to our lifestyle to design a different kind of 'American Dream.’ We also want to share practical ways to the elements and facets where you can enact changes in your life, relatively seamlessly! 5. Grow the Blog....Consistency!2020 is all about growth! This year, we vow to take this blog more seriously. We plan to publish 3 blog posts per week (beginning in Feb, after our Hawaii trip). We will show up on Instagram every day. In 2020, we plan to invest in our business by outsourcing some videography and photography. We are also considering moving our blog over to Wordpress, redesigning the platform! Lastly, we vow to stop listening to fear. Specifically, 2020 is the year we are putting and END to caring about what others think. We want to share on this platform freely, regardless of imminent judgement. 6. Yoga 4x/weekFor years, I was an avid runner, also spending 3-5 days/week in the gym with weights. In 2019, I traded miles on the pavement and hours with dumbbells for yoga on YouTube. Yoga (which I used to believe was "not a workout") made such a difference! My posture improved, as did my mood and overall confidence. I hope to make yoga a consistent part of my morning routine, in addition to daily, long walks with Ty! 7. Hit our 49th state! When we got married and bought our "Scratch off map,' we decided we wanted to scratch off every state. It became an obsession. Three years later, we have been to 48 out of 50 states! What's left you ask? Alaska and...Delaware. Yes, the minuscule state of Delaware. So, this summer, we'd like to embark on another New England road trip, where we'll stop in Delaware in transit to Martha's Vineyard. We may wait a few years to visit Alaska (living in Michigan, we don't feel nearly as drawn to Alaska; while beautiful, it's another colder, cloudier locale!) We wish you all the BEST of luck as you tackle your 2020 resolutions!
