Crater Lake National Park provides stunning views of the richest, deepest, blue water one can set their eyes on. It is no small feat to arrive at CLNP. It's remote location and distance from other populous areas makes traversing this area of the country especially challenging. We stayed in Eugene, Oregon (2.5 hours northwest) the night prior to our adventure. Due to the many wild fires in the region, large sections of the park and surrounding area were impassable, which made for quite an adventure!
The Deepest Lake in the U.S.
The forest fires that were running rampant through the region :(
Would I recommend a Crater Lake day trip? When I started travel blogging, I wanted to be as honest and candid as possible. In that light... I would recommend to only go to CLNP if you are in the area. While it is a majestic sight, worth feasting your eyes upon, the desolation alone makes this a very long journey.
That said, the sights are quite majestic indeed. We hiked a short and sweet amount, around 1.2 miles, to the top. The views from the parking area were almost equally as beautiful.
Thanks for visiting! Up next: Coeur D'Alene, Idaho; Ann Arbor, Michigan; and Teddy Roosevelt NP in North Dakota!
