I love pretty spaces. Don't you?
I caught sight of this beautiful room and had to share it with the world.
Meet Abby. Abby has an undeniable eye for design. Abby would describe her style as boho/shabby chic, "I love seeing how new things can be paired with really old things. It makes an eclectic look. I love earth tones, so a lot of my furniture and accessories incorporate those shades! "
"My inspiration was something new and fresh. My room had really dark walls and it always felt cold and cramped. I really love the look of pairing clean white/beige walls with darker tones as well as light tones. I follow Free People on instagram and read their magazines a lot, and a lot of my inspiration came form them! They mix a lot of the old with the new and I love how it all matches together!"
"The most difficult piece to find were the 4 windows above my bed. I knew that I wanted something rustic and I loved the idea of creating a "headboard" out of old windows. It was really difficult to find four of the similar shape, size, and color. So my grandpa actually made them for me! He bought some cheap wood and made 4 identical windows. Then my grandma and I banged them up with some hammers to make them look older. We painted them black and then white washed them to look more rustic!"
"We first used a coat of Valspar primer to cover my dark walls. They were a really dark shade of green and orange (weird, I know!). We painted the final coat with a Valspar color called Snowy Dusk, a perfect balance of white and soft beige (we used Valspar Reserve which is better coverage for your walls so you dont have to do more than one coat)."
"My favorite element is my roll away racks/screen door. I desperately needed more storage for my clothes. I found these really cute and practical roll away racks on amazon for $20! I really like them because they make it feel like I have my own boutique in my bedroom! The screen door was also from my grandparents. I put it against my wall and hung some cute dresses for an added effect!!"
Some advice that I'd like to share with people who are re-imagining their spaces is -- don't worry about all the little details. They will all fall into place once you are done! I know I was so caught up in, 'What's going to sit on my desk, or what is going to hang from my wall, what about a throw blanket?!' I think that the best thing to do is paint and get your bedspread, THEN from there find your cute nick knacks that you want to display in your room! "
I love Abby's advice. I definitely find myself worrying about all the details. I like everything to be perfectly finished. But Abby IS completely correct. The best way to decorate is by finding pieces that you love over a period of time instead of settling on pieces that are mediocre. Find things that scream of your personality, like Abby did. I LOVE this space.
A special thanks to Abby for letting me feature her today. Don't forget to check out her site abbyjeannephotos.weebly.com! She is incredibly talented.
If you have a space that you would love to showcase, shoot me a message and some photos at firstname.lastname@example.org. I would love to feature you!
Have a beautiful day,
