ADIRONDACK MOUNTAINS & LAKE GEORGE : Travel Guide

Just an hour north of Saratoga Springs, NY, lies the foothills of the Adirondacks and Lake George. Miles of lush mountainscape accented by crystal clear fresh water lakes. I suggest heading to Prospect Mountain trail. If you are short on time, you can drive to the top, while stopping at several beautiful vistas of the lake and mountains. If you are looking for a workout, you can park at the bottom and enjoy a 3 mile hike to the summit.
Note : This is a national park, so prepare to pay $20 for parking. Bring cash!

Just a handful of steps off the beaten trail (okay, more like 1/4 mile of steps) is the top of the trail where beautiful views like the one below await you.

Honest to goodness, a random passerby saw us sitting like this and asked if he could snap a photo to capture the moment. Thank goodness for people like you, sir! He proceeded to tell us that he lives in Vermont and had driven to NY to hike these mountains 92 of the last 100 days.  Also: I am ashamed I own Chaco's. Maybe one day I will sell them...

Lake George is neighbored by a small downtown, which features restaurants, shops, and tourist attractions. The lake is complete with mountain landscapes and boats galore.

We were awestruck as we witnessed a storm slowly roll in over the lake. Half of the lake was covered by blue skies while the other half was beneath dark, gloomy rain clouds. Just prior, we had entertained the idea of a swim! That idea ended quickly!

We both highly recommend a weekend getaway to the Adirondacks, Lake George and mid-state New York. Unexpected beauty is rampant, and you'll find yourself yearning to return (just like we are...)

See you again soon! Next stop: Manchester, Vermont!
